dB Volume Meter App Reviews

Nice features, grossly inaccurate

Very nice interface and setting options (Slow/fast readings, internal/external mic, calibrate by adding or subtracting a fixed amount). But its way too inaccurate when used with iPhone 4S internal microphone. I compared with a real sound meter that passes a sanity check. Sound levels 31 dB, 38 dB, 62 dB and 86 dB on my real sound meter show up in this app as 43.5 dB, 46 dB, 51 dB, and 62 dB. You can set it to "trim" a fixed number of decibels, but that doesnt help. I tried an external microphone. The 31-86 dB sounds measured 44 to 75 dB. Still not enough responsiveness. Trimming a fixed number of dB does not solve the problem.

Not worth a buck

I noticed that this developer has several volume meters with different skins. I picked this one as a simple visual for my special needs students. Unfortunatly even with adjusting the trim and trying both the internal and external microphones this app has poor sensitivity to sound.

No good with 4 S

Not accurate. Better to use ears and save .99

Not Accurate - Avoid This App

This app shows a consistent 05 db level on both iPhone 4S and 5S no matter what. Save your dollar!

Wont work on iPhone 6S Plus

On the iPhone 6S Plus it shows 38.5 in all display areas. It did not ask for permission to access the microphone as did my iPad. It does work on the iPad. I suspect this another abandoned app still in the App Store.

Doesnt work on iPhone 5c either

Only displays 38.4. Wish Id known this before buying.
